If I should believe the internet, there are more than 60 beaches on Ibiza. That is more than enough choice! So which beaches in Ibiza should you really not miss?
Beach hopping by car
Beach hopping is best done with a car. It gives you the flexibility and freedom to go anywhere you want for as long as you want. I always rent a car for my entire stay, preferably at Sunny Cars or EasyTerra. With two friends, I drive a Fiat 500 with a glass roof during our five-day Ibiza trip. Exactly like the one I drive at home, pretty convenient and easy cruising. Anyway, I said I would write about Ibiza’s beaches. I have been coming to Ibiza for many years, and I keep coming back to these five beaches.
Beach Cala Nova in Ibiza
Entering Cala Nova Beach from the car park, you will pass the lovely Atzaro Beach Club and look out over the beach and water from the cliff. Hello holiday feeling! The beach of Cala Nova is about 250 meters long and has beautiful blue water.
In the summer there is always a lifeguard on the beach, and you can rent sunbeds. Many people choose to lay their towels on the sand. Optionally you can walk down the beach and via the cliff on the other side to another beach, Cala Llenya. You might meet a nudist here and there along the way. Cala Nova is not a nudist beach, but it is allowed.
Atzaro Beach Club has comfortable lounge sofas, and of course, you can also eat there. Aiyanna is also an excellent choice for a snack, lunch, and drinks at the beach.

Beach Cala d’Hort
You go to Cala d’Hort for the fantastic sunset. Make sure you are on time because a steep road down takes you to the small beach. Of course, that’s no problem on the way down, but remember that you also have to go up the hill again. So you don’t want to park your car too far away.
Of course, you can also have a full-on beach day at Cala d’Hort (half is sand, the other half rock), but the real highlight is the sun that slowly sinks behind the rock island Es Vedra (find more places on Ibiza for a fantastic sunset). When the sun starts to set, the beach fills with people with photo cameras. And rightly so, because you can get some great shots here.
“Beach” S’Illot des Rencli
It doesn’t get more idyllic than S’Ilot des Rencli in the north of Ibiza. This beach is quite remote and attracts few visitors. There is barely any sandy beach. There are a lot of rocks, but the snorkeling is supposed to be very good. So maybe this isn’t the best choice for a full day at the beach in Ibiza, but make sure to make a quick stop.
Beach Aguas Blancas in Ibiza
Uh yes, the name of this beach in Ibiza has many variations: Aguas Blancas, s’Aigo Blanca, and Aigua Blanques, to name a few. Very confusing. Aguas Blancas is very popular with the inhabitants of Ibiza. From the parking lot, you follow the steep road downhill to get to the beach.
You’re allowed to sunbathe naked if you want. There is no separate nudist beach to do so, so everyone is just doing as they wish. It is quite a long beach: about 300 meters long, located directly on the rocks. They provide some needed shade during the day.
If you follow the beach to the right from the parking lot, you will come across a chiringuito at the end. A nice casual beach bar where you can eat a sandwich and drink juice or have a beer. Don’t be fooled by the number of staff members: you simply order and pay at the bar.
Beach Cala Comte / Cala Conta
Cala Comte is another beach in Ibiza with several names: Cala Conta and Platges de Comte are also used. Officially the part in front of the Sunset Ashram is Cala Conta, and the area a little further to the left (seen from the parking lot) is Cala Comte.
The water here is beautifully clear blue and remains shallow for a long time. The rocks divide the beach into two parts, which gives it a unique appearance. You can, if you like, swim to the island rock opposite (S’Illa des Bosc). As far as I can judge, there isn’t much to do there, so I’d rather chill at the Sunset Ashram. It’s the restaurant on the cliff where you can enjoy a lunch with a gin tonic or beer, or in the evening dinner at sunset. If you’re not sure what to order: go for the Indian-sounding dishes. With a name like Sunset Ashram, you can bet it’s their specialty.
At the Cala Comta beach, you will find more nudists and a small chiringuito. I think that’s a really lovely spot for a drink at sunset.
The beach of Cala Conta is ridiculously popular, especially in high season. Finding a parking space is a challenge, but it is really worth the effort. The beach is about 800 meters long, so quite a few people can spread their towels. With umbrella! Take one with you if you can because the shade is scarce. The sunset is also beautiful here. Curious? Sunset Ashram has an app, so you can watch it live every day.
As I said: Ibiza has a lot of beaches. The choice is enormous. On top of the beaches mentioned above, don’t miss Sa Caleta, and I also recommend sunbathing and swimming at Atlantis.
Let me know what your favorite Ibiza beach is. I will definitely go again next year to try it out!
