Privacy conditions

This post is also available in: Dutch

Hello there!

Privacy is a hot topic in the context of the new European rules (GDPR). As a travel blogger, I also have to handle the collection of sensitive personal data wisely. Not only because this is required by law, but everyone wants their privacy to be properly safeguarded, right? Safe, locked, inaccessible. Precisely. That is why I will explain in this privacy statement exactly what your privacy is like on Tripunlocked.com

If you have any questions about your privacy, I invite you to ask them via the contact form.

1. WordPress.org

This blog runs on WordPress.org. When you respond to an article, the CMS stores the email address you entered. To prevent spam, entering your email address is mandatory. You do not have to enter a URL for your blog or site; you can also respond under a pseudonym.

In principle, I do nothing with this data, unless otherwise stated in the relevant article. For example, a competition and I want to let the winner know that he/she has won a prize.

2. WordPress plugins

I have installed several plugins on my WordPress environment to make my blog work properly. I use the following plugins that process data:

  • Jetpack by WordPress.com: for social sharing and statistics insights

3. Cap5

Cap5 hosts Tripunlocked.com. They can also store certain data. Think of IP addresses.

4. Google Analytics

I use Google Analytics to monitor how my blog is doing. For example, I look at which articles are widely read, whether a lot of traffic comes to my blog via Google or how long people on average stay on an article. This data has been anonymized. So I cannot see which page you as a person have been on. So it mainly concerns IP addresses.

5. Other cookies

This site uses:

a) Functional cookies

Functional cookies are necessary for the website to function properly. These cookies are placed by default and are not deleted if you do not accept the cookies.

b) Analytical cookies

These cookies are necessary to keep track of visitor statistics and to get an idea of your behavior on the site.

c) Marketing cookies

Marketing cookies (also called tracking cookies) to track the surfing behavior of visitors so that you receive targeted offers.

Our website contains links to other websites, for example a website of a restaurant that I recommend, a link to Facebook or affiliate links to web shops. My privacy statement only applies to this website and I recommend that you also consult the privacy statement of the websites referred to.

Storing and securing provided information

It is not my intention to collect more data than is strictly necessary for the proper functioning of my blog.

I do not share the above information with others unless it is necessary for the blog to function properly. I make every effort to store and secure the data obtained as best as possible. In principle, the data is stored:

  • as long as Trip Unlocked is online
  • while I use the above services (in the context of Tripunlocked.com)
  • until these services cease to exist
  • until you request that your data be deleted

You have the right to view, change and delete your data that you have stored here. However, to ensure that you are indeed the person whose data is in question, I may ask for proof of identity.
