You don’t necessarily have to go far for a yoga holiday or yoga weekend, but it is nice to cross national borders. So why wouldn’t you go on a yoga retreat in Belgium if you’re a Dutchie – or any other nationality for that matter? Quickly check the list of great options for yoga retreats in Belgium; please: always double-check the spoken language during the retreat before you book!

Almost all yoga retreats will take care of materials like yoga mats, bolsters, blocks, pillows, et cetera. But if you feel more comfortable with your own gear, search for a nice lightweight travel yoga mat.

Silent yoga retreat in the Ardennes (4 days)

Four days of little talking and lots of feeling. You stay at Château de Petite Somme, a castle near Durbuy in the heart of the Ardennes. Ann Van Engeland has been teaching for over 20 years and combines viniyoga with yoga nidra, meditation and breathwork. In between sessions, you take silent walks through the surrounding countryside. You get a single room with a private bathroom, and meals are Indian-inspired vegetarian thalis. The group is small, with a maximum of ten guests. Classes are taught in Dutch.

Yoga retreat at Westmalle Abbey (4 days)

Yes, the one famous for its beer. The Trappist abbey of Westmalle sits in the woods and is a true retreat from everyday noise. You do six yoga classes, two yoga nidra sessions, meditation and breathing exercises, plus guided forest walks. If you like, you can also join the monks for their prayer times. You stay in a single or double room and eat three meals a day, vegetarian or fish. Classes are taught in Dutch.
