The sound of the waves. Sun rays kiss your skin. A soothing voice. A view of one of the most beautiful bays of Ibiza. This is how zen you can start your morning in Ibiza. At the beach restaurant Amante, you can practice yoga.
Amante at the Sol den Serra bay
Ibiza is an island with many faces: the hottest house and techno parties go hand in hand with hippies hiding in caves. Families with children, party people, the rich and famous, couples and groups of friends all have the time of their lives here. The island has so much to offer to anyone.
On my first visit to Ibiza, I accidentally ended up at the Sol den Serra bay where Amante is located. I fell in love with the island instantly. The bay is beautiful, and at Amante, you can have a delicious lunch. It was immediately apparent that I would come back here one day. At the time, I hadn’t imagined that I would be upside down during that second visit.
Yoga at Amante
I’m in a downward-facing dogwhile the drops of sweat roll down my face. Since 2015 you can go to Amante for yoga. On several mornings there is Yoga at Amante. At 9 o’clock the lesson starts. For 36 euros (including booking costs), you can participate in Yoga at Amante, and get to have breakfast. You can also join a yoga class at Aiyanna for 6 euros less.
It feels like hot yoga
I had to book the class weeks in advance. It is pretty popular. We are about 20 people, I guess. Mostly women. You can count the number of men on one hand. The yoga mats are ready on the plateau in front of the restaurant, and there are umbrellas around them. While that is well-intentioned, it honestly helps very little. It is already so hot at this time in early September, and the sun is so bright that I find it difficult to immerse myself in the exercises.
We do hatha yoga, one of the most popular yoga forms in the Netherlands, so the exercises are easy for me in that regard. But that scorching sun… At least I now know for sure that Bikram yoga is not for me! I think the class could have started an hour earlier. It’s more sun than zen in this yoga class.

Take a break at breakfast at Amante
After the yoga class, we have breakfast at Amante. A breakfast buffet is available filled with healthy things. Fresh juice, fresh fruit, yogurt, dried fruit, croissants, and a nice cup of cappuccino are waiting for us. Perhaps this breakfast while taking in the surroundings will make me feel more relaxed than the yoga class did. Yoga on Ibiza at Amante is really worth it, but not for me at 34 degrees.
