Looking for the ideal place to rest your head in Sliema, Malta? Whether you’re a budget-conscious backpacker or seeking something with a bit more comfort, this vibrant coastal town offers accommodations to suit every preference and wallet. I’ve personally tested several options and compiled this guide to help you find your perfect Maltese home away from home.

Accommodation options for every traveler

From the warm, community feel of a family-run hostel to the convenience of a simple hotel or the luxury of a fully-equipped studio apartment, Sliema’s accommodation scene has something for everyone. Let me walk you through some standout options that will enhance your Mediterranean getaway without breaking the bank.

Hostel tip in Sliema: Granny’s Inn Hostel

If you enjoy staying in a hostel, I can highly recommend Granny’s Inn Hostel. This lovely, small-scale hostel is run by a nice couple with an even nicer dog. The dormitories have five or six beds. And there are also some private rooms. It’s all spotless, from common areas to showers and toilets. Cheerful paintings alternate with murals in the corridors and the walls of the common areas. You can admire the sunset from the roof terrace. So definitely a great stay.

Cheap hotel in Sliema: Carlton Hotel

The Carlton Hotel is a simple 3-star hotel in Sliema. The rooms are basic but clean. If you plan to go out a lot, this is really perfect. The hotel is on Exiles Bay, so you can easily reach the rocky beach. There is a swimming pool on the top floor, but it is tiny and not very inviting. The older gentleman at the reception is amiable and helpful. I get a cheerful smile whenever I enter or leave the hotel. Carlton Hotel prices vary a bit on Booking, but occasionally they have an excellent deal.

Wonderful studio in Sliema: Sliema Studios

If Sliema Studios has availability, you MUST book it. It is a small-scale stay, although they are expanding considerably at other locations. The service is super personal and fast. If no one is behind the reception, you can just use Whatsapp. And the studio is very stylishly furnished, including a washing machine, dryer, and fully equipped kitchen. I even have two TV screens! Sliema Studios is one street back from Tower Road. That means less traffic, but you will be on the boulevard in a heartbeat.
