Looking for a nice place to stay in the Champagne region? I have some tips for hotels and apartments for you in Épernay, Reims, Châlons-en-Champagne, and Troyes!

How far is Champagne from Paris?

It’s actually quite easy to get to the Champagne region from Paris. By train, it’ll take you about two hours on average. But, if you plan well, some trains take you from Paris to the Champagne region in only 40 minutes! You can book your tickets here

Another option to get to the Champagne region from Paris is by car. It’s about 150 kilometers which should take you no longer than 1 hour and 45 minutes. Depending on traffic, of course. I usually rent cars at Sunny Cars or EasyTerra because I like their all-inclusive approach.

Where to go in the Champagne region in France?

The beautiful Champagne region can be conveniently divided into two distinct parts, each offering its own unique treasures. In the North, you’ll find the enchanting cities of Reims, Épernay, and Châlons-en-Champagne, while the South boasts the captivating destinations of Troyes, Bar-sur-Aube, Bar-sur-Seine, and Mussy-sur-Seine.

Plan your visit between April and mid-October, and immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of the Champagne region. Be sure to join the festivities during the exhilarating harvest in September, where many exciting events accompany this special occasion.

Personally, I already had the pleasure of embarking on a trip to Troyes and a journey through the northern part of the Champagne region. It was a delightful mini-road trip that left me yearning for more exploring and, of course, more champagne!

Where to stay in the Champagne region: Épernay

In Épernay, I opt for a small studio in the center: Sparkling Life. Owner Nicolas completely renovated a studio and apartment in 2020. The studio is perfect for two, and the apartment can accommodate four people. The decor is cheerful and fresh, and there are lovely details everywhere. There is a free parking lot nearby, but it is often full. Nicolas also has many tips for Épernay and the surrounding area. So do I, by the way: read my blog with Épernay tips and book the studio or apartment via Booking.com.

Where to stay in the Champagne region: Reims

In Reims, I find a nice place via Airbnb. The apartment is a short walk from the center. The area is not super inspiring, but in the street, you will find a bakery where you can get something tasty in the morning. A great place to stay in Reims. The apartment is spacious, so you can also chill at home and drink champagne for a relaxing evening in. Check out the condo at Airbnb and discover what you can do in Reims.

Spend the night in the Champagne region: Châlons-en-Champagne

In Châlons-en-Champagne, I stay in a spacious apartment on the corner of the main square. Le République has modern furnishings and a good kitchen. Leaving the house’s almost a shame because the apartment is ideal for taking a breather. There is a huge flat-screen TV with Netflix, and you can sink into the comfy couch for hours. When you close the door behind you, you are right in the center of Châlons-en-Champagne. Check out the apartment on Booking.com and read my blog with tips for Châlons-en-Champagne.

Can’t go to Le République? Don’t worry: there are plenty of other hotels in Châlons-en-Champagne where you can spend the night. For example:

Where to stay in the Champagne region: Troyes

I also opt for an Airbnb in Troyes. I found a super cool one in the center in a typical medieval house. The apartment is furnished in a totally illogical way because it is such an old house, but that is precisely the charm. In the apartment, you can actually see the wooden beams. Unfortunately, I’m not too thrilled with the mattress, but for a short stay, it’s fine. Find out if Chez Isaac is still available on Airbnb and make plans for your stay in Troyes.
