A tropical rain shower every now and then can be pretty refreshing. And usually, the bad weather quickly blows over. But what if your plans literally fall into the water? What can you do in Curaçao when it rains? 9 recommendations.

1. Go to the cinema

In Willemstad, you can go to The Movies in Punda and The Cinemas in Otrobanda. Usually, there is a mix of classics and new films. So there must be something on that you like, for sure.

2. Visit the caves of Hato

It is somewhat humid in the caves of Hato, but you will not be bothered by the rain. Visit the caves with a guide and learn about the cave’s natural phenomena and how enslaved people used the caves. The caves of Hato are near the airport. You usually do not have to make a reservation, but if you prefer, you can always contact them via the website.

3. Pick a museum

There are quite a few museums in Curaçao to shelter from the rain. What about:

4. Check Pasabon

The Curaçao guide Pasabon is always full of events and activities. You can usually find a copy at the hotel desk or at one of the tourist attractions. Or check it online. Who knows, maybe a live band is playing somewhere, or another indoor activity is on.

5. Take a chance at the casino

Win (or lose) Antillean guilders in the casino. The Renaissance hotel has a casino where you can also go if you do not stay in the hotel. Or, if you’re more into poker, maybe you can go to Curaçao Poker.

6. Book a massage

Let your muscles relax in a spa. For example, you can try Cloud Nine Spa of the Avila Beach Hotel or The Spa of LionsDive. Get a massage and relax while the rain passes over Curaçao.

7. Paint your own Chichi

Workshops are regularly organized at Serena’s Art Factory and the Chichi Shop. Learn how to decorate your own Chichi figurine. Souvenir in the pocket! You don’t have to make a reservation, but you just have to show up on time. So check the website for the locations and times.

8. Eat, eat, eat

There are so many restaurants in Curaçao where you can enjoy a delicious meal. Go out for an extensive lunch or an endless dinner. There are plenty of indoor options. Check out my blog about restaurants in Curaçao for inspiration.

9. Join a cocktail workshop with Curaçao liqueur at Chobolobo

Blue Curacao is made in Curacao; where else?! At Landhuis Chobolobo, you will learn everything about the production process. You can try out the different flavors of the liqueur because there is more than just Blue Curacao. You can do the tour (book here), where you will be shown around the distillery for about 45 minutes and then drink a cocktail in the café. Or, mix your own cocktail with Curaçao liqueur during a workshop. You book it here.
