After the bustling city life of Tbilisi, I am ready for some fresh air and open space – and I find it in Sighnaghi. Not in the village itself but just outside of it. At Lost Ridge Inn, where they brew beer and keep horses. And where you can spend the night. I tested Lost Ridge Inn for you, so you know exactly what you’re about to book.

Lost Ridge Inn

A little outside downtown Sighnaghi, in the mountains, lies an absolutely wonderful place to stay. Lost Ridge Inn. It’s a boutique hotel, brewery, and horse farm all in one. When I read that, I booked immediately. Because that sounds like a perfect combo, right?

I’m here with my dad, who’s always up for a beer. Each hotel room is unique. We have a fairly large room with two beds and a big bathtub. The doors open onto a large rooftop terrace, which, unfortunately, we can’t use because of the wind.

Lost Ridge Brewery

The ground floor is a cozy hangout spot with a bar. This is where we get an extensive breakfast, and in the evenings, we sit by the fireplace and sample the beers from Lost Ridge Brewery. I secretly expected a bit more explanation and thought we’d get to peek inside the brewery. But we simply get a tasting flight with small glasses.

If we’d asked, we probably could have taken a look, but since we constantly have to ask the guy running Lost Ridge Inn for everything, we let it slide. When we do ask for something, he takes care of it right away though. I just don’t feel comfortable asking about everything all the time. They could have sold us so much more: a cooking class, a horseback ride. Then again, it’s nice that they’re not super commercial. To be honest, we’re short on time anyway because there’s so much to do and see. So I’ll save that horseback ride for next time.

Lost Ridge Restaurant

The Lost Ridge Inn property is stretched out because they’ve bought additional land over time. From the parking lot, you first enter the guesthouse section, which has a bar and a large garden with an outdoor kitchen. This must be an absolutely fantastic spot in summer. Then you walk along a small path past the vegetable garden to the Lost Ridge Inn Restaurant, probably accompanied by one or more dogs. They’ve found their home here, and occasionally, a new one joins the pack.

In wintertime, only Georgian-speaking ladies work in the small restaurant. So the manager helps us with ordering. We choose various dishes to share; everything is fresh and tasty. We’re the only ones in the dining room. It’s a beautiful glass building, almost Scandinavian in design, and the mountain view is fantastic.

Lost Ridge Ranch

When we walk a bit further, we reach the horse stables. Several horses are kept both inside and outside. If you want to take a ride through the mountains, it’s best to make arrangements in advance. Or ask about it upon arrival as the staff won’t push them upon you.

Being here in winter, I need to return to Lost Ridge Inn in summer to experience it all a bit more. To use the lovely outdoor spaces and enjoy the views. I expect a little more liveliness then too. Now, I mainly experience the potential, and the hospitality mostly radiates from their Instagram feed. That Instagram vibe doesn’t match my experience, but I had a great time anyway.
