In Lagos (Algarve) you’ll find many, many food options and cozy cafes. So, I have done my best to have coffee, food, and drinks in as many places as humanly possible in a few days. These are my favorite spots in Lagos.
My pick: coffee bars in Lagos
Portuguese coffee is generally not very tasty—or at least, it’s not what I’m used to. But luckily, there are many trendy coffee shops in Lagos with great baristas. Often, you can also have breakfast or lunch at these spots.
Coffee & Waves
There is often a long queue on the street at Coffee & Waves, that’s how popular it is – especially among tourists. It is a popular place for coffee, breakfast, or something sweet. The small shop is decorated in pastel shades, and beautiful surfboards brighten up the place. You kind of have to have those if your coffee bar is called Coffee & Waves, right?
Black & White Coffee
Black & White Coffee is right in the center of Lagos. Again: very popular among tourists. The furnishings are very white, almost sterile or cold. But the service staff gives a warm welcome. And the coffee is hot, and that’s what matters most.
The Studio: Coffee Roaster & Brunch
The Studio is one of the first coffee bars to open on the day (8am), so if you have a busy schedule, this is the perfect place to start your day. You can order different bowls and toasts with your coffee. But you just might opt for sweet treats? Perfect spot for coffee all day long.
Galeria Hooroo
Galeria Hooroo is a more alternative coffee bar that has Portuguese customers too. Yay! There are a handful of seats on the sidewalk. Inside, space has been made for changing art exhibitions. The barista pays a lot of attention to each cup of coffee, resulting in a very smooth taste.

Restaurants in Lagos (breakfast, lunch & dinner)
The most popular breakfast spots are Goji Lounge Café (Google Maps location) and Goji The Hidden One (Google Maps location). It’s so busy every time that I fail to get a spot. Luckily, there are more breakfast and lunch spots in Lagos. Actually, you can also go to the above-mentioned coffee bars (except Galeria Hooroo) for breakfast or lunch – or brunch, depending on what time you get out of bed.
Twin Fin
Twin Fin has a wonderfully relaxed surfer vibe. Because it is not in the center, you can have breakfast there peacefully. The waffles are great, but the bowl is too frozen to my liking. Twin Fin is also open for drinks and dinner on weekends.
The Collab Bar
Lunch with bao buns and a beer. Sounds good? Head to The Collab Bar. It is a bit hidden behind the beach entrance at the fort, so it’s pretty quiet. The waiter has a lot of knowledge of beer, so be sure to get some advice. And the bao buns are delicious. We order a second round.
The Green Room
Fancy some Mexican food? Try lunch or dinner at The Green Room in Lagos. It is a cozy restaurant, a bit noisy, but that’s part of the experience. The portions are large, so when we get the giant burrito, we thank ourselves for skipping the starter.
Pearl Food Trailer
The Pearl Food Trailer is my best Lagos food tip. Go here just before sunset and order bubbles and oysters. Crossing the bridge, the food truck is in the harbor on your right. It is small-scale and friendly. Once you find a spot, you may never want to leave. So after the oysters, we continue with cheeses, ham, and a flaming chorizo sausage. Such a perfect little discovery.
Drinks in Lagos
There are many bars to go out in Lagos. However, I’m not really into the party vibe; I just want to have a quiet drink at a nice bar. If that’s the vibe you’re after, try The Garden and Indigo Bar.
The Garden
The Garden is a beautiful garden full of wooden benches and tables. If you know Hanneke’s Boom in Amsterdam, it’s a bit like that vibe. If you only come for drinks, I recommend doing so before dinner. During dinner, the barbecue gets lit, and the smell is great if you’re eating, but not so much otherwise.
Indigo Bar
If you don’t know that the Indigo Bar has a roof terrace, you might miss it and miss out. But now you know, so you can enjoy super tasty cocktails on the rooftop. Pornstarn Martini, Espresso Martini, Basil Smash, and all for under a tenner. If you stay at the Indigo Guest House, you get a discount on your first drink in the bar.
